A lot of people spend a lot of time yearning for 80s music. One fresh song that nails retro vibes with the classic 808 drum pattern is “Poison Ivy” by DRE. At first impression, this addictive track reminds me of Michael Jackson when it comes to his funky music.
No wonder, then, this original artist from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been featured on popular websites such as Rolling Stone, MTV, and Worldstar. Not only that, but some of his previous singles have gained over 20K streams via Spotify.
Certainly, the upbeat tempo of “Poison Ivy” evokes a sense of nostalgia that makes you feel warm in mere seconds.
Funnily enough, a major villain from DC Comics became a source of inspiration for the lyrics. In collaboration with fellow producer IVNN, “Poison Ivy” also features layers of gorgeous synths and a radiant groove that recall retro vibes.
Beyond these clever arrangements, DRE. is actually part of what is called the Retro Renaissance of music. Most importantly, he will continue exploring interesting vintage-esque concepts on his soon-to-be-released debut album (Fall 2021).
Stay tuned to his socials for more announcements.
