Electronic music is always evolving, and when it goes into eclectic mode, you get a brilliant genre-defying EP like ‘Superhuman,’ produced by Derek Holley aka Dress Code. This new release has 5 authentic tracks where he breaks the mold, reinventing what music theory says.
For sure, being creative and doing his own thing is what defines this music producer from Ohio. Not saying that innovating doesn’t come with risks, but fear is what would’ve stopped Dress Code from making these genuinely catchy and futuristic melodies.
A Revolutionary Blend of Sounds
Traditionally, his method consists of merging Electro, Complextro, Rock, and Funk nuances simultaneously. A kinda revolutionary strategy as electronic beats meet organic instrumentation in a big way.
But between the synthesizers, electric guitars, drums, distortions, and other sound effects, Dress Code is a great example of a talent with a DIY approach. His creative potential goes hand in hand with new technologies, without ditching the essentials, a unique vision that reflects his personality of doing things his own way and independently.

Originality Over Labels: Dress Code’s Artistic Manifesto
Some of the songs on this genre-defying EP give me major Daft Punk vibes, and at other times, they remind me of Prince but in a much more avant-garde style. You really feel this in tunes like “Move Together” (my fave) and “Turn It Out.” Plus, there’s something retro futuristic about them.
They’ve got a super dynamic structure, though they might feel intense on first listen.
Overall, Dress Code is doing his thing by pushing a distinctive sound as usual, but this time I noticed he’s also put extra effort into the songwriting. With introspective lyrics and a narrative that feels like it’s straight out of a Sci-fi novel, ‘Superhuman’ is music ahead of its time.
From his dark shades to the whole free and unrestricted creative process, Dress Code is one of those artists who fully integrates his philosophy into his art, proving that originality remains the most important element of any project.
