Höhn (also known as Eric Haynes, the keyboardist of Neo-Soul collective Busty and the Bass) is sharing his self-titled debut album, an exploration of how geography and nostalgia influence music.
Having dived into an improvisational environment where he could fuse harmonic concepts of Jazz with idioms of Techno music, Höhn brings something distinctly organic to electronic production through his exclusive use of field recording-based samples.
The debut album, Höhn, was created in part to explore how geography and nostalgia influence music, sourcing all of its sounds from locations near his former homes of Calgary and Montreal.
Each song is made using samples from only one location. The samples are manipulated and stretched to fit traditional electronic music roles, such as kick drums and synths.
