The lyrics are about someone who bailed emotionally before things even got going, so you end up loving a fantasy version of them instead of the real thing. Also, this song can be interpreted as seeking closure with a love that was never really yours, and finally letting it go.
In Mares’ Own Words
Fernando Mares, the band’s singer and producer, shared that the track is about a connection that almost became love but never fully did. He explained that he wanted the talkbox and synths to strike a balance between nostalgic and futuristic.
The single arrived shortly after the band opened for Empire of the Sun at Red Rocks, continuing the group’s busy run of live shows this year.
Everyday Life, Retro Disco Vibes
The music video concept is super interesting since they filmed it outdoors. The band, made up of Fernando Mares, Carlos “Bica” Valderrama, Carlos Amaya, Samuel Márquez, and Diego Bustillos, shows off everyday activities.
Between ironing, reading on the grass, hanging up socks, and a picnic, there’s a great tune loaded with robotic Daft Punk-style vocoders and a catchy chorus you won’t want to stop singing!
Besides that, the funky, groovy piano and guitars keep the video simple, no Hollywood special effects needed, yet still totally memorable.
Hitting the Road in 2026
Midnight Generation isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The band kicked off a massive run of shows in August at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, then hit stages across the US and Canada, including Milwaukee, Toronto, and Quebec City.
They’re also bringing their Disco-Funk overseas, with European stops like Madrid and Switzerland’s Gurtenfestival already locked in.
All in all, fans can catch these talented guys live in over 30 cities through early 2027, so keep an eye on their official site and socials for tickets before they sell out.
