Following the guitar-driven success of their January single “Hots For You,” Belgian Synthpop duo Munatix is steering back to their roots with a brand-new Synthwave anthem, “Driving To Amsterdam.”
The single is out now across all major streaming platforms.
With lush analog synthesizers, infectious melodies, vocal harmonies, and an expressive guitar solo, “Driving To Amsterdam” is classic Munatix – wrapped in warm retro vibes and unmistakable 80s nostalgia.
The song was born during a jam session when Josh stumbled upon a catchy chord riff on his vintage Roland Juno-60.
As soon as Ricky sang the chorus during the first vocal take, both musicians knew – without saying a word – they had something special.
Their previous single “Hots For You” garnered critical acclaim, earning a spot on Spotify’s editorial playlist “New Music Friday” and accumulating over 100,000 streams to date.
Over the past months, Munatix also delighted fans with synth tributes to “Take On Me” (A-ha) and “Fourth Rendez-Vous” (Jean-Michel Jarre), which resonated widely across social media.

The lyrics to “Driving To Amsterdam” reflect a longing road trip filled with emotion, escapism, and a touch of vintage radio charm:
“Stereo’s playing as I travel along / While I am listening to my favourite song…”
The track’s subject naturally inspired a real-life road trip. Munatix hit the road on a sunny summer day, filming their journey to Amsterdam in a red Ford Mustang Convertible with iconic white racing stripes.
Cameras were mounted on the car, and a drone followed overhead, capturing the adventure. The trip ends at the scenic IJmeer lake – a perfect closing scene for the music video.
Although “Driving To Amsterdam” was previously available exclusively on CD as part of their debut album ‘Retrofied’ (released in 2024), June 27 marks the first time the song will be available on streaming platforms.
Until now, only fans who purchased the physical album had access to the track.
