On Mekahel, the Israeli-American singer, model, and star of the Revry reality series Putting On, is out now with his newest single, “Pu$$y.” The track marks the openly gay pop artist’s most provocative and unapologetic release to date, continuing the nightlife-fueled, liberation-driven world he introduced on his previous single, “DOSE.”

Described by Mekahel as “seductive, sexy Electro-Pop with an edge,” “Pu$$y” trades restraint for full commitment — bigger production, sharper attitude, and a title designed to spark conversation before a single note plays. But according to the artist, the song isn’t shock value for its own sake. It’s a specific feeling, given a name.

“A lot of what we write is inspired by real experiences, situations, or ideas that I’m living through. The concept was born on a night out with a close friend, a drag queen, on our way to the club, when she described “feeling pussy” — a state of feeling yourself in a delicious, sensual, and deeply confident way.

We immediately connected with the idea and decided to build the entire song around that feeling. From there, everything unfolded naturally.

Where ‘DOSE’ captured the reckless thrill of the dance floor, ‘Pu$$y’ digs into something more layered. The two songs share the same unapologetic spirit but express it differently.

‘DOSE’ is about throwing yourself into life without overthinking — just not giving a fuck. ‘Pu$$y’ explores the confidence that exists alongside vulnerability and self-awareness. Sometimes the boldest people are also the most self-conscious, and we wanted to capture that tension.” — Mekahel

That tension carries through to the single’s visual counterpart. The accompanying music video pushes Mekahel further outside his comfort zone than any release before it, incorporating more choreography and performance than his previous videos — a direction he says he plans to keep developing as an artist.

Israeli-American gay singer On Mekahel says "Pu$$y" is about authenticity rather than provocation.

As for the title itself, Mekahel says there was little hesitation.

“As a gay man, I write from my own lived experiences, so I always try to be as honest and authentic as possible. I know there are people who immediately understand this feeling and even use this word in the same way. That made it feel genuine rather than provocative for the sake of being provocative.” — Mekahel

With “Pu$$y,” Mekahel hopes listeners — particularly within the queer community — hear their own language and culture reflected in it.

“I hope people see it as another way to express confidence and celebrate their most authentic selves. If someone walks away feeling a little more empowered to own who they are, then I’ve done my job.” — Mekahel

“Pu$$y” is available now on all major streaming platforms, with the official music video available on YouTube.
