Sultan + Shepard Turn 80s Track “High On Emotion” Into A Club Jam For The New Age

Published

on

high on emotion
Sultan + Shepard throw it back to the ’80s on their newest track “High On Emotion”, a modern-day take on Chris de Burgh’s iconic 1984 hit that proves club culture is as alive and thriving as ever. The veteran producing duo employs upbeat progressive melodies and a funky drop with the original’s vocal sample to create a groove-worthy, upbeat tune. “High On Emotion” carries nostalgic elements of decades past while inspiring a new generation of music fans to hit the dancefloor and let loose. Following “Louder” last month, this is the second track from Sultan + Shepard’s forthcoming artist album, set to drop in January 2019. The duo shed some light on the inspiration behind their newest release:

“This song really brings back a special vibe for us. It’s about having fun and partying, but also the simple fact that you can experience really euphoric emotions when going out. We were inspired by the sound of the late 90’s and early 2000’s in House music, things like the French Touch sound and early Electro House. The culture of flipping old records has been going on forever and it really is one of favorite things to do. The idea that you can take a rock record from the 80’s and turn it into a club banger is so fun to us.”

Throughout the last decade, Sultan + Shepard have established themselves as one of dance music’s premiere partnerships; their production talent had landed them collaborations with renowned dance music artists such as Tiesto, Dillon Francis, and Fedde le Grand as well as iconic Pop artists like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and Madonna. They wrapped up 2017 with the massive success of their single “Almost Home” (ft. Nadia Ali and IRO)-the track surpassed 20M spins on Spotify, hit #1 in the US Media Base Chart, peaked at #4 on the Billboard Dance Chart and was nominated for a JUNO Award for Best Dance Recording. Through the last five years, Sultan + Shepard’s work has also earned them a Grammy nod for their remix of Bruno Mars’s “Locked Out of Heaven” in addition to the Canadian songwriters SOCAN Music Award for International Song Of The Year for “Bad”, the multi-platinum single which they co-wrote alongside David Guetta, Showtek, and VASSY. Sultan + Shepard’s collective ability to seamlessly create tracks that feel at home both on the radio and the festival stage, as well as a timeless commitment to their craft, has brought Sultan + Shepard to a well-deserved place at the top. Keep an eye out for more new music from the duo coming soon!

Kaskade & BROHUG Channel SNAP!’s Iconic “The Power” Into New Song

Published

on

BROHUG
Kaskade
joins forces with the Swedish trio BROHUG (composed of John Dahlbäck, and Chris and Niklas Lunde) for perhaps the most prolific throwback single in electronic music to date, a tribute to one of the most significant years in music – “1990”. The namesake-titled track is a play on SNAP!’s iconic “The Power,” reworked with snippets of the original vocals set to Kaskade and BROHUG’s ingenious production. Opening with a groovy melody as the backdrop to nostalgia-ridden lyrical riffs, “1990” progressively builds the tension to almost unbearable levels. We all know the moments just before a track of this magnitude drops, and the pressure is real right before the bouncy and driving crescendo, on which every old school fan’s favorite line, “I’ve Got the Power!” rides perfectly. “1990” is out on Kaskade’s Arkade imprint. Hear about the new release in the artists’ own words below.

“1990 was an incredible year for music. You couldn’t go into a club, pizzeria, or record store without hearing the iconic song by SNAP! “The Power,” and here we are in 2020 with it still buzzing in the zeitgeist. ‘1990’ is only to be played on the loudest of speakers, and has got the power to stay stuck in your head long after hearing it.” – Kaskade & BROHUG

As a household name in electronic music for nearly two decades, Kaskade needs no introduction. His list of achievements is a mile long: 11 studio albums, 7 GRAMMY nominations, the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the first DJ to ever secure a Las Vegas residency, and the first electronic artist to headline Coachella. Less tangible but even more important has been his influence on dance music tastes and culture for generations of listeners. Often Kaskade is one of the artists who introduced now-veteran listeners to the genre, and such fans are usually fans for life. In 2019, he worked with multi-award winner Meghan Trainor on “With You” and Gorgon City on “Go Slow,” among solo releases, such as “My Light,” “Come On,” and official remixes for the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani earlier.

Regardless of their satirical stage name, BROHUG is not here to play games. Since John Dahlbäck and the Lunde brothers formed BROHUG in 2016, the trio has worked with Ghastly, remixed Steve Angello, and released on labels such as Confession, Spinnin’ Records, Dim Mak, Musical Freedom, and their new label BROHOUSE. In 2019, their release schedule was packed with relentless hit after hit. Virtually unrivaled, their touring has been intense since the start, and 2020 will be no exception. BROHUG has really put their name out, with sets on festivals like Ultra Music Festival in Miami and Tomorrowland in Belgium, touring Australia and several tours in the US and Asia. A new decade brings with it new possibilities, so stay tuned to hear more from Kaskade and BROHUG coming soon.

After years of cutting his teeth at some of Toronto’s most prominent studios as a music engineer, Kalabretta embarked on his own musical journey in 2016 with his first independent release – “Basic.” His music has always defied genre boundaries, though he cites some of his influences as Justice, Caribou, MGMT, The Strokes, and Mac Demarco. The world was introduced to LA-based DJ and producer Valentino Khan in 2014, when he burst onto the scene with his debut EP “In Khan We Trust” on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. Khan’s sound possessed a unique versatility, incorporating elements of trap, bass, hardstyle, house and more into a driving, often heavy sound that found homes on labels such as Mad Decent, Spinnin Records, and Ultra. In 2015, Khan’s original track “Deep Down Low” became an international sensation, earning the title of “Most Played Track” of the year and topping Sirius XM’s #1 Song of 2015 on Electric Area. Since then, he has earned a reputation as a remix master with official renditions of RL Grime’s “Pressure,” Alison Wonderland’s “Good Enough,” Calvin Harris’s “One Kiss” and more. His original productions include “Pump,” which has over 17M streams on Spotify, “Gold” with Sean Paul, as well as production credits for the likes of 2 Chainz, B.O.B., Dizzee Rascal, Iggy Azalea, T.I. and more. On the touring front, Khan sold out his show at the iconic Hollywood Palladium this year, featuring a b2b set with Shaquille O’Neal (DJ Diesel) and a surprise appearance by legend Snoop Dogg. 2020 is already shaping up to be the year of Valentino Khan, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

Adam Davenport's Latest "Hype" Is A New House Classic
Adam Davenport
is no stranger to making good bangers. On this occasion, he goes far beyond the limits of the conventional and creates something that feels like a House classic. Of course, I’m talking about his 4th single, “Hype”, which will surely rock underground and commercial clubs with its sexy warm vibe. There’s no denying Adam’s seductive vocals evoke sensual undertones that revolve around hedonism. This is why this tune will transport you back to the early days of House…

On a side note, several labels wanted to sign this bass-driven track. Nevertheless, HouseSession, a German label known as the mirror of dance music evolution welcomes it. Moreover, this is another collaborative track with Jordi Coenradie, who also co-wrote “What’s The Matter With You”. In fact, Adam’s previous single was on the first round Grammy nominating ballot for Best Dance Recording this year. So, it’s not surprising why “Hype” could be a win any night of the week. Stay tuned for more exciting news below.
