It’s been six quiet years, but La Roux is finally making a comeback. The 38-year-old artist behind “Bulletproof” is starting her super hyped return with “Cabin Fever,” which is the first sneak peek at her upcoming fourth album, ‘Old Flames,’ dropping this autumn.
In the music video she directed herself, she comes across as way more mature, serious, and thoughtful. The scenes don’t have much movement or action, but I think that’s kinda the point; the visuals get all introspective, just like the lyrics in this amazing song.

An Unfiltered and Deeply Personal Record
This Grammy-winning artist handled all the writing, producing, composing, and arranging for ‘Old Flames’ completely on her own. What came out of that is her most open and real project yet.
The upcoming album walks you through a super intimate story as La Roux deals with the end of a 17-year relationship, the pain of loving someone you shouldn’t, the isolation that comes with addiction, and the tough work of figuring out who she is and who she loves while everyone’s watching.
Putting it in her own words, she says the whole point of this new record is to be refreshingly real. La Roux put it like this: it’s saying goodbye to how she used to act in love and in life, and yeah, in her music as well.
On a side note, a couple of years ago, she made impressive Disco music with the living legend Cerrone. However, I don’t think that’s the direction ‘Old Flames’ is headed.

The Story Behind “Cabin Fever”
Her new single dives into that tricky headspace of choosing to hole up on your own. Likewise, it nails that push-and-pull between wanting to go out and the thoughts that keep you in.
La Roux kept it simple when explaining the track. “Cabin Fever” captures that feeling of being trapped in her own head, and how she knew getting brutally honest was the only way out.
This jam mixes that nostalgic Electro-Pop vibe with bold electronic beats and synths. Plus, the music video gives you a first look at the visual style for the whole ‘Old Flames’ era.
What To Expect Next
You’ll be able to grab the album on vinyl, CD, or cassette, and it will feature a total of 11 tracks. Finally, if you’re excited to catch the new tunes in person, La Roux will be opening for Hilary Duff on stops throughout the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
Moreover, she’s got two huge nights lined up at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 5 and 6.
BTW, the tour kicks off June 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida!
